CHADWICK – A 2-year-old Chadwick boy died Monday in a Rockford hospital of unspecified injuries, and his death is under investigation by the Chadwick Police Department and the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

Ashton J. Sistak was the son of Alexis M. Sistak, 28, and Mark W. Meador, 39.

An autopsy will be conducted in Winnebago County in the next day or so, Coroner Sue Fiduccia said.

An ambulance was called to a home at 325 Wilson Ave. Sunday morning, where the boy was unconscious.

He was taken to CGH Medical Center in Sterling, then airlifted to Rockford Memorial Hospital.

He died around 12:15 p.m. Monday in the hospital’s pediatric center, Fiduccia said.

The state Department of Children and Family Services and the State Police Crime Scene Unit is assisting in the investigation, the release said.

No arrests have been made, a sheriff’s spokesman said.

No further details were available Monday.
