Carroll County authorities investigating death of toddler
CHADWICK – A 2-year-old Chadwick boy died Monday in a Rockford hospital of unspecified injuries; his death is under investigation by the Chadwick Police Department and the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.
An autopsy of Ashton J. Sistak will be conducted in Winnebago County sometime in the next day or so, Coroner Sue Fiduccia said.
An ambulance was called to the home at 325 Wilson Ave. Sunday morning, where the boy was unconscious.
He was taken to CGH Medical Center in Sterling, then airlifted to Rockford Memorial Hospital. He died around 12:15 p.m. today in the hospital's pediatric center, Fiduccia said.
No arrests have been made, a sheriff's spokesman said.
The state Department of Children and Family Services and the State Police Crime Scene Unit is assisting in the investigation, the release said.
