Fundraiser to help cancer patient

STERLING – Several fundraising activities are scheduled for March 24 to help the family of Henry “Hank” Richmond of Rock Falls, who is being treated for pancreatic cancer that has spread to his liver.

From 4 to 10 p.m. that Wednesday, Wagon Wheel Restaurant, 1711 W. Fourth St., will be the site of a live auction, silent auction, bake sale and cake walk to raise money for Richmond and his family. The benefit will include music and food from Mama Cimino’s.

Raffle prizes will include a flat screen TV, $100 cash, a processed hog, and a Wii game system.

Winners will be announced at the benefit, but need not be present to win.

Raffle tickets also are available from employees of Sterling Steel, where Richmond worked for 8 years.

Richmond, 57, was diagnosed with cancer in September. He travels to Moline for treatment.

He and his wife, Sandy, have two children and two granddaughters.
