FRANKLIN GROVE – John F. Palmer, 85, of Dixon, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Franklin Grove Nursing Center, after a brief illness.

John was born May 6, 1924, in Chicago, the son of Joseph and Theresa (Benzinger) Pszotka. He married Katherine Bistolas on Aug. 16, 1952, in Chicago; and he served in the Army during World War II.

He was employed by Walter Knack Co., Dixon, retiring in 1985. After retiring, he was a self-employed accountant.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Elaine Palmer of Freeport and Connie Palmer of St. Louis; one sister, Patricia McMahon of Chicago; one brother, Joseph (Dorothy) Pszotka of Lombard; and one granddaughter, Emily Palmer (fiancé, Zach Muscato) of Chicago.

Memorial service will be at a later date. Burial will be private. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were completed by Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
