AMBOY – Elaine A. Powers, 81, of Amboy, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at Amboy Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. 

Elaine was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Sublette, the daughter of Otto and Susan (Kellen) Stephenitch. 

She was employed in numerous jobs in the Amboy area. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Amboy, The Flammettes, and Amboy High School Clipper Backers. Elaine married James Powers on Sept. 5, 1955, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Amboy.

Survivors include her husband of Amboy; six children, Martin Powers, Diane (Terry Wolber) Powers, Judith (Sam) Jones, Dean (Mandy) Powers, and Ann (Derrek) Barlow, all of Amboy, and Linda (Eli) Riley of Franklin Grove; one sister, Dorothy Koehler of Amboy; one brother, Otto (Lois) Stephenitch of Canton; two sisters-in-law, Harriet Stephenitch of Mendota and Rita Wilson of Bloomington; two brothers-in-law, Joe (Elaine) Powers of Amboy and John Phelps of Lee Center; and 10 grandchildren, Kaylee Jo Jones, Tyson Powers, and Mallory Powers, all of Amboy, Cameron Riley, Evan Riley, and Ashton Riley, all of Franklin Grove, and Brandon Barlow, Carley Barlow, Brittany Barlow and Carson Barlow, all of Amboy.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Long, Lucille Glaser, and Marcella Stephenitch; and one brother, Harold Stephenitch.

Prayer service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mihm-Jones Funeral Home, Amboy, followed by the Mass of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. St. Patrick Catholic Church, Amboy, with the Rev. Carl Beekman, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Amboy. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with the rosary recited at 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established.
