DIXON – Donald G. Stomberg, 78, of Dixon, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at KSB Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Donald was born March 1, 1931, in Chana, the son of Enno and Lela Mae (Feary) Stomberg.

He was a longtime employee at Del Monte, and then retired from ED Etnyre & Co., Oregon. He married Dona Jean Florschuetz on March 30, 1951, at Lighthouse Church near Oregon.

Survivors include his wife of Dixon; three sons, Dennis (Gaylene) Stomberg of Rockford, Steve (Artina) Stomberg of Franklin Grove, and Greg (Misty) Stomberg of Donphan, Mo.; one daughter, Debra (Curt) Bartlett of Franklin Grove; one brother, Franklin (Eloise) Stomberg of Rockford; four sisters, Dorothy Morris and Mary Jane Shoemaker, both of Mount Morris, Floris (Bob) Dempsey of Dixon, and Audrey (Joe) Love of Polo; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, with two on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Kirby G. Stomberg and Donald R Stomberg; and two sisters, Clara Mae Claassen and Gladys Wallin.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home, Dixon, with the Rev. Steve Casey, pastor of Lincoln Avenue Church of God, Dixon, officiating. Cremation rites will follow. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Franklin Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to Lincoln Avenue Church of God, Dixon.
