PROPHETSTOWN – Donald Seifert, 74, of Prophetstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at his home. He was employed by General Electric Co., Morrison, for 37 years, retiring in 1997.

Mr. Seifert was born Feb. 28, 1935, in Davis, the son of Florian and Marie (Johnson) Seifert.

He married Barbara Williams on March 11, 1955, in Prophetstown. He was a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Diana (Rick) Schroeder of Johnstown, Penn., and Darcie (Steve) Omiotek of Troy, Mich.; three sons, Scott (Maureen) Seifert of Midlothian, Va., Tim (Sara) Seifert of Trumansburg, N.Y., and Brice (Debbie) Seifert of Normal; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bob Seifert.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Prophetstown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Insun Yoon, pastor, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Arrangements were completed by Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, Prophetstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established to Prophetstown Food Pantry, Prophetstown United Methodist Church, Mercy Hospice of Clinton, Iowa, and Hope Lodge, Iowa City, Iowa.
