STERLING – Claude Knox, 81, of Sterling, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at his home.

He was born April 28, 1928, in Sterling, the son of Leonard and Gladys (Schontz) Knox. He married Beverly Dodd on Nov. 22, 1947, in Rock Falls. She died March 31, 2006.

Claude’s employment career began at Frantz Manufacturing for approximately 8 years; he then worked at Jul Paint and Varnish, Chicago, for approximately 8 years. He later retired in 1990, as a press operator in Department 28 at National Manufacturing, Sterling, after 24 years of service.

Surviving are his three daughters, Elaine Kay (Terry) Hoeller of Rock Falls, Sue (Charles) Renner of Tampico, and Claudette (Bob) Sawyer of Sterling; three sons, Bob Knox and Terry (Lana) Knox, both of Sterling, and Mickey (Karen) Knox of Rock Falls; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, and two granddaughters.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls, with the Rev. Jason Borton officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials in his memory may be made to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
