CHADWICK – Shirley A. Miller, 74, of Chadwick, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at her home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Brethren Church, Lanark, with Pastor E.C. Lathrop officiating. Burial will be at Lanark Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Frank-Law-Jones Funeral Home, Mount Carroll.

Shirley was born March 9, 1935, in Sterling, the daughter of Fay and June (Bleitz) Jarvis Paschal. She graduated from Milledgeville High School. 

On Oct. 22, 1954, Shirley married Ivon L. Miller in Milledgeville.

Most important in Shirley’s life was her family. She loved raising her children and enjoying the time with her grandchildren. Shirley was a member of First Brethren Church, Lanark, and the Women’s Missionary Society. She taught Sunday school and served on the church deacon board. Whenever possible, Shirley enjoyed cooking and entertaining for friends and family. She loved reading and embroidery. 

Shirley worked as a teller and bookkeeper at Farmer’s State Bank, Chadwick, and Mount Carroll National Bank for 20 years. She also was active in working at Milledgeville Greenhouse, her sister’s greenhouse, for many years.

Shirley will be dearly missed by her husband, Ivon of Chadwick; two daughters, Terri Hahler of St. Louis and Kristy (Chester) Strehlow of Forreston; two sons, Danny (Pam) Miller of Rock Falls and Dana (Jane) Miller of Mount Carroll; one sister, Janice (Richard) Millhouse of Sterling; and nine grandchildren, John and Susan Hahler, Brett and Cole Strehlow, Adam, Katey, and Emily Miller, and Kayla and Shane Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Faye Rae Eller.
