Josh Stroud, 32, is plant manager at Dana Holding Corp., a drive shaft assembly company in Sterling. He lives outside Sterling with his wife, Erin Stroud, 30, and their two children, Mackenzie, 5, and Micah, 1. Josh is the son of Jim and Cindy Dunlea of Shanesville, Va., and has four brothers and five sisters.

On-the-job lesson: Never be afraid to take chances.

Alma mater: I graduated in 1996 from Faith Christian School, Grand Detour. I got my associate degree from Highland Community College, Freeport.

Philosophy: Live life a day at a time.

Hearts: Golf, hanging out with my kids, and “The Big Bang Theory.”

Darts: Painting.

Haunts: Home.

Hero: The late Rev. Garry McCaw, who used to be a pastor at Assembly of God Church in Dixon. He really kind of mentored me before he passed away.

First job: I detasseled when I was 15. I said I’d rather flip burgers than detassel.

First car: A 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera when I was 17.

Phobia: Snakes.

Guilty pleasure: Video games.

Best thing about Sterling: It’s still got a small-town feel.
