DIXON – Alice B. Friedrichs, 87, of Dixon, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010. She was employed by Sauk Valley Community College, Dixon, as a secretary before retiring.

Alice was born March 30, 1922, in Dixon, the daughter of Orville and Ethel Jane (Trimmell) Dodd. She married Warren Friedrichs on Nov. 25, 1944, in Dixon. He preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2007. Alice was a member of First United Methodist Church, Dixon, and the Sarah Circle.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan (Robert) McCoy of Dixon; two grandsons, David (Stephanie) Hanrahan and Harrison McCoy; one granddaughter, Anne McCoy; and two great-grandchildren, Maccullen and Parker Hanrahan.

She also was preceded in death by one son, David Friedrichs; one brother, Orville W. Dodd; three sisters, Dorothy Dodd Tyler, Genevieve Eno, and Eleanor Hubbard; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Lucy Friedrichs.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, Dixon, with the Rev. Sarah HyeJin Hong, pastor, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Private burial will be at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon.

Because of her love of animals, a memorial has been established to Happy Tails Humane Society, Sterling.
