LANARK – Mary Evelyn Galor, 68, of Lanark, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at FHN Memorial Hospital, Freeport.

Mary was born Jan. 27, 1941, in Sterling, the daughter of Howard and Marion (Smith) Topp.  She attended Sterling schools. Mary was married to William “Bill” Galor on Feb. 18, 1967, in Sterling. 

Mary worked at Elkay, Lanark, as a spot welder for 20 years. She also worked as a cook at Hi-Way Café, Lanark.

Mary loved being a homemaker and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a passion for flower gardening and bowling.

Mary is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband, William “Bill” Galor of Lanark; one daughter, Janice Majors of Lanark; 10 sons, Jerry (Sheila) Galor of Rockford, William “Bill” (Cathey) Allen of Kingsville, Texas, Robert “Bob” (Brenda) Allen of Sterling, Doug (Julie) Galor of Loves Park, James (Tina) Allen of Freeport, William Galor II of Lanark, Brian (Patty) Galor of Mount Morris, Christopher Galor of Polo, John (Tina) Allen of Lanark, and Patrick (Kathy) Galor of Mount Morris; two brothers, Henry (Gala) Topp and Donald (Linda) Topp, both of Sterling; one sister, Ada (Rich) Phillips, of Golden Valley, Ariz.; 28 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Irene Nelson; and two grandsons, William David and Dustin Edward in infancy.

An open house in her memory will be throughout the day Saturday at the family home, 117 E. Locust St., Lanark. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Arrangements were completed by Law-Jones Funeral Home, Lanark.
