Slow start burns Dixon
The Dixon Duchesses started slow on Monday and that cost them in a 50-45 loss to Geneseo at Lancaster Gymnasium.
Susie Hicks led Dixon (4-10, 1-2 NCIC Reagan) with 14 points. Holly Nicklaus added 10 points.
Devan Griffin led Geneseo (15-3, 3-1) with 16 points.
Bureau Valley 34, Amboy 31: Melanie Thompson scored 17 points as the Storm won in Amboy.
Courtney Doty added nine points for Bureau Valley (13-4, 4-3 Three Rivers).
Amboy (11-6, 3-3) was led by Hillary Liebing with nine points.
Riverdale 57, Erie 43: The Cardinals could not keep up with the Rams in Port Byron.
Kara Snowden scored 13 points to lead Erie (6-10, 2-5 Three Rivers).
Riverdale (11-5, 3-3) was led by Mallory Gibson with 12 points.
Warren 50, West Carroll 41, OT: The Warriors outscored West Carroll 11-2 in overtime to win in Warren.
Becca Fritz scored 10 points for West Carroll (3-13, 1-5 NUIC West).
Warren (3-12, 2-3) was led by Danielle Balbach with 14 points.
Wrestling
AFC splits triangular: The Raiders defeated Mendota 54-21 at Ashton, but lost to Winnebago 44-25.
Dillon McCannon was the only Raider to win in two contested matches. McCannon pinned Mendota’s Jacob Guerrero in 5 minutes and defeatd Winnebago’s Michael Preiss 12-5 at 185 pounds.
AFC received six forfeits in its win over the Trojans. Jordan Lahman (140) and Logan Meurer (145) also had pins in that match.
