The Lee County Sheriff’s Department still is investigating two fatal vehicle accidents that occurred in mid-November and early December.

In both cases, the department is waiting on toxicology results to determine if drugs or alcohol were factors, Sheriff John Varga said.

Those results could be available by late next week, he said Wednesday.

Ricky Roberson, 23, of Stillman Valley, was driving along Track Road in Ashton on Nov. 17 when he lost control of his car and rolled into a ditch. He and his passenger, Robert Neary, 22, of Dixon, died at the scene.

On Dec. 4, Nathan Bakes, 21, of Paw Paw, was eastbound on Chicago Road in Paw Paw when he drove his pickup off the side of the road and hit a tree. He was pronounced dead at Mendota Hospital.

His passenger, Chad Albers, 22, also of Paw Paw, was hospitalized and later released.
