Rock Falls takes ninth at Harlem tournament

The Rock Falls Rockets won the ninth-place game at the Harlem Tournament on Saturday, 59-26 over Rockford East.

The Rockets (4-9) were led by freshman Jordan Giddings’ 14 points. Paige Last added nine.

Newman 54, Camp Point Central 44: Strong bench play from Aubrey Ybarra, Tierney Brown, Kaitlon Busser and Katrina Silva propelled the Comets to a home win.

Kaitlyn Hunsberger and Kayla Moore each scored 14 for Newman (8-2).

Milledgeville 59, Polo 32: The Missiles built a double-digit lead in the first quarter in the third-place game at the Polo Tournament.

Keali Engelkens scored a game-high 16 points for Milledgeville (9-4), while Brianna Herin added 13 points. Katelyn Grobe led Polo (5-8) with 13 points.

Morrison 55, Oregon 42: Christie Wiersema scored 15 points as the Fillies won fifth place at Polo.

Erin Carney added 13 points for Morrison (3-11). Oregon (3-10) was led by Lacey Bellows’ 15 points.

Prophetstown 34, West Carroll 28: The Prophets claimed seventh place at Polo with hard-fought win.

Claire Sigel scored 11 points to lead Prophetstown (3-8). Becca Fritz led West Carroll (3-10) with 14 points.

Riverdale 62, Bureau Valley 53: The Rams outscored the Storm 21-11 in the fourth quarter to pick up a Three Rivers win in Port Byron.

The loss spoiled a 22-point effort by Melanie Thompson. Courtney Doty added 13 points for Bureau Valley (7-2, 2-2).

AFC 50, Kirkland-Hiawatha 27: The Raiders jumped out to a 25-10 halftime lead and never looked back in Ashton.

Audra Lundquist had 17 points and Melody Kaecker added 13 for AFC (5-4).

Faith 43, New Jerusalem 37: Parker Ortgiesen had 23 points, 15 rebounds and seven steals as the Falcons won in Grand Detour.

Deb Drallmeier had 12 rebounds and Nadia Vogeler had 11 rebounds for Faith (8-1).
