Bob Shomaker, 62, is an account executive with the Walder-Rhodes insurance agency in Dixon. He and his wife, Judy Shomaker, 58, live in Dixon. They have two children, Sara Shomaker, 28, of Tampa, Fla., and Eric Shomaker, 18, a freshman at Kishwaukee College, Malta. Bob is the son of Beatrice Shomaker of Franklin Grove.

On-the-job lesson: Take care of people, be dependable, and be there when they need you.

Alma mater: I graduated in 1965 from Dixon High School, and have a degree in criminal justice from Georgia Southern University.

Philosophy: Treat people the way you like to be treated.

Hearts: Fishing, being with friends, and watching “CSI: Miami” and “NCIS.”

Darts: When people don’t get done what they’re supposed to get done on a timely basis.

Hero: Ronald Reagan. I think he had good values and was an honest person.

First job: I ran the concession stand at Reynolds Field when I was 16 with my cousin, Bob Ferris. I spent all my time there playing baseball.

First car: A 1958 Chevrolet Impala when I was 18.

Read this: “Ball Four,” by Jim Bouton.

Phobia: I’m claustrophobic.

Guilty pleasure: Eating too much.

I’d like to meet: Mickey Mantle.

In the dictionary next to: Dependable.

Trading places: I’d like to be the FBI director. I think it’d be interesting to be in that field.

Trading spaces: I’d like to tour Europe.

Best thing about Dixon: It’s a great place to raise kids. It has very good police, fire and hospital services. Crime is relatively low.

Shout out to: My daughter, Sara Shomaker. She reads the paper online all the time.
