Kowal leads Northern to win over Tennessee State

Sean Kowal hit a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds to pace Northern Illinois to an 85-57 victory over Tennessee State on Friday in DeKalb.

Tony Nixon added 16 points and Mike DiNunno 11 for the Huskies (1-2), and guard Darion “Jake” Anderson had a career-high 13 rebounds to go with nine points and six assists.

Loyola of Chicago 76, Holy Cross 73: Aric Van Weelden hit a 3-pointer as time expired to lift Loyola of Chicago to a victory over Holy Cross in Worchester, Mass.

DePaul 60, N. Iowa 52: Jeremiah Kelly had a career-high 18 points and eight rebounds and DePaul closed with a 20-6 run to beat N. Iowa in the Paradise Jam.

Mac Koshwal added 12 points and 19 rebounds to help the Blue Demons (2-0) advance to the semifinals Sunday against No. 10 Tennessee.
