Three teens charged in car wash break-ins

DIXON – Three Dixon teens were behind bars Thursday, charged with burglarizing a Dixon car wash twice this summer.

Kyle D. Sweet, 19, 921 N. Hennepin Ave., is charged with burglary, theft over $300, criminal damage to property over $300, and criminal trespass to real property, a misdemeanor.

Kody D. Sweet, 18, same address, is charged with burglary, theft over $300, and criminal trespass to real property, a misdemeanor.

Nickolas P. Howard, 18, 1612 Joliet Way, is charged with two counts each of burglary and theft over $300, and four misdemeanors: two counts of criminal trespass to real property, criminal damage to property under $300, and theft under $300.

Kyle Sweet was being held on a $30,000 bond. Kody Sweet and Howard were each being held on a $15,000 bond. All three have a preliminary hearing Dec. 2.

On June 21, Dixon Police responded to a break-in at Huffman Automatic Car Wash, 1215 N. Galena Ave. The back door of the business had been forced open and cash was missing. There were no witnesses, Dixon Police Sgt. Matt Richards said.

The car wash was broken into again on July 29.

Police received a tip about the three in September, and they were arrested at their homes late Tuesday.

Kyle Sweet is on parole for a 2007 string of car burglaries committed in Dixon. He has been on parole since his release from the Illinois Department of Corrections.
