Fulton woman raped at gunpoint; suspect still at large
FULTON – Police in the Fulton area are looking for an armed robber who may have broken into two homes, raping the occupant of one at gunpoint.
Tuesday, a man used a handgun to force his way into a Fulton home and raped a woman. Police got the call shortly before 1 a.m.
The woman was taken to Mercy North Hospital in Clinton, Iowa, for treatment.
No description of the man was available late Thursday.
The next day, an armed robber forced his way into a Clinton, Iowa, home shortly before 4 a.m., brandished a handgun and demanded money, Capt. Randy Meier said in a news release Thursday.
The intruder was a tall, slender black man, the release said.
Police are advising people to be cautious, lock their doors and report suspicious activity immediately.
The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department, the Morrison and Clinton police departments, the Illinois Department of Criminal Investigations and Illinois State Police Crime Scene investigators assisted Fulton police.
