POLO – Dorothy M. Dawson of Polo, formerly of Sterling, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at her home. She was a beautician at several area beauty shops.

Mrs. Dawson was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Milledgeville, the daughter of Cloy and Beaulah (Bushman) Deets. She married Robert Dawson on May 26, 1945, in Morehead, N.C.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Cathy (Henry) Jackson of Tempe, Ariz., Charlotte Hislop of Tempe, Ariz., and Mary Sue (Greg) Farster of Mariquopa, Ariz.; a son, Raymond (Jean) Dawson of Polo; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Marion Dennis.

Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sterling, with the Rev. David Finn, celebrant, officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald-Allen-Grennan Funeral Home, 505 First Ave., Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sterling.
