Thanks to vets for service and public for support

I want to extend my thanks to all who joined us for our community’s Veterans Day ceremony. I was informed by several citizens that the turnout at Veterans Memorial Park was potentially the largest we have had in some time.

Dixon and surrounding communities are home to many veterans spanning 7 decades and several foreign conflicts. It is important that we recognize those who have fought for our freedoms, whether they protected our homeland or served for us on foreign shores.

Veterans Day, to me, is a time to celebrate what our veterans have done for us to ensure that our liberties are maintained. It is also a day to pay our respects to those who are willing and courageous enough to bear the honor of defending our great nation, and the principles upon which it was founded.

To all citizens: Thank you for showing your deserving support.

To all veterans: I salute you, and thank you for your service.
