Nick Woods, 19, of Sterling, works in housewares at Super Wal-Mart in Sterling, and is studying theater at Sauk Valley Community College. He is the son of Mike and Jennifer Woods, and has three brothers, Jacob, 17, Stephen, 13, and Michael, 8, all of Sterling.
On-the-job lesson: Take everything as it comes. Let go of the past and look to the future.
Alma mater: I graduated in 2008 from Sterling Christian School in Galt.
Philosophy: Romans 12:21: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Hearts: Playing bass on a worship team at Crossroads Youth Center in Rock Falls, and watching “Fringe.”
Darts: People who think they’re better than everyone else.
Haunts: Crossroads, and Beans, Books and Beliefs in Sterling.
Hero: My parents: They made me who I am today.
First job: I worked at KFC when I was 17. I didn’t like how chaotic it was.
First car: A 1991 Pontiac Bonneville when I was 16.

Guilty pleasure: Video games.
