New prosecutor for Knox theft case

GALESBURG – A Knox County judge has granted a motion to appoint a special prosecutor to handle the case of a county official accused of theft.

Recorder of Deeds Paula Monzo is accused of writing about $3,500 in checks on the account of the Knox County Democratic Central Committee over the past year. State’s Attorney John Pepmeyer said he is a potential witness in the case and a member of the organization that is the alleged victim.
