DIXON – Lawrence R. “Larry” Hill, 61, of Dixon, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at his home. He was retired from Illinois Department of Transportation after 32 years.

Larry was born March 11, 1948, in Freeport, the son of Robert W. Hill and Dorothy (Spavin) Hill. He was a 1966 graduate of Stockton High School and graduated from Bradley University, Peoria. Larry then served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War at Scott Air Force Base, near Swansea.

He had worked for many years remodeling and refinishing Amboy Depot Museum. Larry enjoyed riding horses with his close friend, Cassandra. He was a member of Unitarian-Universalist Church in Stockton.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Hill of Stockton; his lifelong companion, Cassandra Rogers of Dixon; one sister, Linda (Bill) Parrilli of Naperville; one brother, David (Laurie) Hill of Rockford; two nephews Aaron and Jason; and one niece, Corrine.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Local visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m.

Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Hermann Funeral Home, Stockton, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jacqueline Ziegler officiating. Burial will be at Ladies Union Cemetery, Stockton.

A memorial fund has been established.
