LENA – “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” fans at last will get to see all the nooks and crannies of the Stotts’ new home: Their episode airs at 7 p.m. Sunday on ABC.

Sauk Valley residents were among the hundreds of volunteers who spent Sept. 9-16 building a new home for Philip and Joey Stott and their three teenagers.

In addition to building the new house, the work crew, headed up by Hasken Construction, Freeport, demolished the old farmhouse, which had been damaged in a fire, tore down several farm buildings and built replacements, refurbished a 100-year-old dairy barn, dug out a pond, poured concrete walkways, and landscaped the yard – all in a week.

The filming of the popular TV show also drew thousands of local spectators to the site.

Joey Stott is a 5-year cancer survivor who operates a rescue farm and is a Jo Daviess County Mounted Patrol officer.

During college finals week in May, the Stotts’ home caught fire and the family was forced to move into trailers on the property. Later that month, fellow Highland Community College students nominated the Stotts for the show.
