Donald Barnhart
MOUNT MORRIS – Donald B. Barnhart, 71, a lifelong Mount Morris area resident, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Ogle County Hospice Serenity Home, Oregon.
Donald was born July 23, 1938, in Fargo, N.D., the son of Russell and Norma Kula Barnhart. He was a graduate of Leaf River High School.
Before retiring, he was a union laborer with Dixon Local 727, employed by Quebecor in Mount Morris and at the Byron nuclear plant. He married Regina Ogden Semon on Oct. 23, 1980, in Oregon.
Don was a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Mount Morris Fire Department for 19 years. He enjoyed television repair, and erecting TV antenna towers.
Survivors include his wife, Regina of Mount Morris; one son, Randy (Sheri) Barnhart of Mount Morris; one daughter, Kathy (Tom) Lee of Mount Morris; three stepsons, James (Shery) Semons of Oregon, Bil (Deby) Semon of Garland, Texas, and Tom Semon of Chicago; three stepdaughters, Ann Lombardi of New Jersey, and Peggy (Leroy) Saunders and Chris Cox, both of Oregon; one brother, Dave Barnhart of Mount Morris; two sisters, Darlene Bennett and Elaine Van Dusin, both of Mount Morris; three grandsons; and numerous stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda Barnhart; one stepson, Robert Semon; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Reilly; and one brother, Chuck Barnhart.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, officiated by Pastor Rich Fassig, Ogle County Hospice chaplain. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Mount Morris. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials have been established to Ogle County Hospice.
