Federal, state candidates file for February primary

Monday was the final day for candidates to turn in their petitions for the Feb. 2 primary.

Voters must declare their party in the primary. Their vote in the following federal and state races on Feb. 10 will determine the 2010 general election candidates.

Federal, state and judicial candidates are:

U.S. Senate

The seat now held by Democrat Roland W. Burris of Centralia will be on the ballot. He was appointed in 2008 and is not seeking election.

n Republicans John Arrington of Harvey, Mark Steven Kirk of Highland Park, Donald “Don” Lowery of Golconda, Andy Martin of Chicago, Kathleen Thomas of Springfield, Patrick J. Hughes of Hinsdale, and Robert L. “Bob” Zadek of Rockford.

n Democrats Alexander “Alexi” Giannoulias, David Hoffman, Jack J. Meister and Cheryle Jackson, all of Chicago, Robert Marshal of Burr Ridge, Corey Dabney of Aurora, and Willie “Will” Boyd Jr. of Greenville.

n Green Party LeAlan M. Jones of Chicago.

U.S. House: Incumbents are 14th District Rep. Bill Foster, D-Batavia; 16th District Rep. Don Manzullo, R-Egan; and 17th District Rep. Phil Hare, D-Moline. All are seeking re-election.

District 14

n Democrat James Pistorius of Aurora.

n Republicans – Jeff Danklefsen of Geneva, Ethan Hastert of Elburn, Randal M. “Randy” Huntgren of Winfield, Mark Vargas of Elgin, and James T. “Jim” Purcell of Batavia.

n Green Party – Daniel J. Kairis of S. Elgin.

District 16

n Democrat George W. Gaulrapp, Freeport;

n Green Party Terry G. Campbell, Rockford.

District 17

n Republican Bobby Schilling, Colona;

n Green Party – Roger K. Davis, Quincy.

Governor

n Republicans: Adam Andrezejewski and Kirk W. Dillard, both of Hinsdale; Andy McKenna and Dan Proft, both of Chicago; Jim Ryan, Elmhurst; Bill Brady, Bloomington; and Robert J. “Bob” Schillerstrom, Naperville.

n Democrats: Pat Quinn, acting governor, of Chicago; Daniel W. Hynes and William “Dock” Walls III, both of Chicago; and Ed Scanlan, Oak Park.

n Green Party: Rich Whitney, Carbondale; and Richard B. Mayers, Chicago.

Lieutenant governor
