MORRISON – Nationally touring acoustic duo Patchouli is making a stop at the Main Street Market Coffee Shop in Morrison, performing 7-9 tonight.
Known for its high-energy acoustic music, Patchouli performs music ranging from nuevomenco-style pieces on steel string guitars to inspiring power-folk mantras.
Both Bruce Hecksel and Julie Patchouli studied at The Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago. Together the songwriting duo has released 12 CDs, given more than 1,700 performances, and put in more than a half-million touring miles.
Patchouli’s newest CD, The Woodlands, digs deep into individual experiences of recovery and healing, resting solidly on the pulse of a transforming America. The Woodlands merges Patchouli’s unique modern acoustic style with the sounds of the late 1960s and early ’70s, and her poetic exploration with Hecksel’s graduate studies in symbolism, mythology and theology.
