DIXON – Laola A. Drew, 91, of Dixon, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at KSB Hospital.

Laola was born, Sept. 8, 1918, in Chana, the daughter of Ole and Hattie (Butterfield) Zell. She married Elwyn Storah Drew on Dec. 4, 1938, in Stillman Valley. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2008.

She was a member of Bethel Evangelical Congregational Church, Dixon; Home Extension in Lee and Ogle counties; a 4-H leader; Brownie leader; Girl Scout leader; and Sunday school teacher. Laola enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts, and restoring furniture, especially family heirlooms.

Survivors include one daughter, Pamela (George) Stees of Dixon; one granddaughter, Kelli (Jason) Reed of Wood River; two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Abigail Reed of Wood River; and one nephew, Gary (Mary) Zell of Genoa.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin Keplinger and Eugene Zell.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday at Bethel E.C. Church, Dixon, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Mavis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon.

Memorials have been established to Bethel E.C. Church, Dixon, and Chana School.
