CHICAGO (AP) – Police say a 42-year-old Chicago woman was killed on her way to work when two drug suspects fleeing from officers crashed their minivan into her car.

Officers say the woman’s car was one of two civilian vehicles the van crashed into Tuesday morning after striking two undercover police cars in an apparent attempt to run down several officers.

Officer Robert Perez of the Chicago Police News Affairs office says officers riding in the two cars got out of their vehicles at a South Side intersection and approached the minivan, but the two men inside threw it into reverse and tried to hit them. They then struck the police cars and fled, striking two other cars.

The men were arrested a short distance away.

The dead woman was not immediately identified.
