FRANKLIN GROVE – Faye L. Cole, 92, formerly of Ashton and Dixon, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Franklin Grove Nursing Center. She was employed by Atlantic Pacific Tea Co., from 1944 to 1966, before retiring.

Mrs. Cole was born Dec. 29, 1916, in Ashton, the daughter of William C. and Emma (Scharpf) Schafer. She married Millard D. Cole on June 29, 1940, in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1988. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Dixon.

Survivors include a son, William C. Cole of Dixon; a daughter, Janet (Roger) Hoyle of Dixon; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter-in-law, Diane Cole.

Private graveside service will be at Ashton Cemetery, with the Rev. Sarah Hyejin Hong, pastor of First United Methodist Church, Dixon, officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were completed by Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon.

Memorials have been established to Ashton United Methodist Church and the Ashton Fire Department Rescue Squad.
