16-year-old Peoria boy dies from gunshot

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Police in Peoria say a 16-year-old boy has died after being shot in the back.

Police say Derome Brown died during surgery Friday night at a local hospital. Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll says Brown died from a single gunshot wound to his back.

Police say they responded to calls reporting gunshots when they found the teen lying on a doorstep. Authorities say they're investigating the death.
