Counties get H1N1 shipments: Free clinics Saturday in Dixon, Rock Falls
Lee County Health Department Thursday received its first large shipment of H1N1 injectable vaccine – 3,000 doses – and will offer a walk-in clinic Saturday for those most at risk.
Whiteside County, too, has gotten more vaccine, and also will offer a free clinic Saturday.
Both departments will give priority to caregivers of children 6 months and younger, people 18-24, health care workers, pregnant women, children older than 6 months but not yet in school, and people 25-64 with health conditions such as asthma.
“We ask the public to be patient and understanding while we serve those most vulnerable,” Lee County Health Administrator Cathy Ferguson said. “As soon as the priority groups are taken care of, vaccine will be made available to all those who wish to receive it.”
Lee County Health Department has 2,000 more H1N1 shots reserved for school-age children, and has scheduled H1N1 clinics in all Lee County schools.
Appointments are not necessary Saturday, and vaccinations are free.
