Work to begin on clinic: Rockford-area builder wins $627K contract
ROCK FALLS – Cherry Valley-based builder Ringland-Johnson Construction has been awarded the contract for a mental health clinic that is being added to the Whiteside County health clinic.
The county board of health Tuesday approved Ringland’s $626,700 construction bid from a pool of nine contenders. Dirt work on the Behavioral Health Clinic is likely to begin within 10 days, said Beth Fiorini, Whiteside County’s public health administrator.
Cost to the health department and local taxpayers is estimated to come in at $10,700 because the bulk – $610,000 – will come from a federal stimulus grant awarded last month.
The Behavioral Health Clinic, a 3,800-square-foot addition to the department’s Community Health Clinic, will connect the Health Clinic and Dental Clinic, and bring the three facilities under one roof.
It will provide support for the mentally ill, and make referrals to other local agencies for drug and alcohol addiction.
The addition is tentatively scheduled to open by March and have enough staff to serve about 15 people a day, Fiorini said Wednesday.
The construction grant comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is part of the $36.8 million allocated to 36 construction projects in Illinois through the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
