Carnival money goes to St. Jude

The third annual St. Jude Carnival, held Oct. 10 at the Oregon Coliseum, was a huge success.

I would like to thank both the sponsors and volunteers from Oregon, Mount Morris, Dixon, Byron, Sterling and Forreston. We had more than 300 children in attendance, along with their parents. Everyone enjoyed the grilled hot dogs “cooked in the snow” this year, served on flying discs donated by the Rockford Bell Credit Union in Mount Morris.

With 21 games for the kids to play while their parents enjoyed a massage donated by Tonya LaPage, everyone seemed to have a great time. We were able to send St. Jude $1,629 this year.

A great big thank you to all who attended and helped in any way. We ran a contest giving a $50 savings bond donated by the Byron Bank for the child who brought in the most money for St. Jude. Dominick Lube was the winner.

Note to readers – Nancy Arbogast was the chairwoman for the St. Jude Carnival.
