Comets fly past Falcons
The Newman Comets blasted the River Valley Falcons on Friday, winning 60-0 in Varna.
Joe Blessman started the blowout on a 10-yard run in the first quarter.
Senior Austin Hubbard, who led Newman with 81 yards rushing, then added a 19-yard touchdown.
Tim Wilson had six carries for 71 yards and two touchdowns. His scores came on an 18-yard run in the first quarter and a 9-yard run in the second quarter.
In the second quarter, Jack Hanlon had 1-yard touchdown run and Shaq Campbell had a 16-yard run to paydirt.
John LeMay had 40 yards on the ground with two touchdowns in the second half.
The Comets had 357 yards on the ground. Newman did not attempt a pass all night.
“I thought we executed well,” said Newman Coach Mike Pappocia. “Everyone got to play. From top to bottom, the kids worked hard and executed. As a coaching staff, we’re pleased to see that.”
