Polo chief sees possible ties to Dixon burglaries: Three arrested are ‘persons of interest’
POLO – Three young Polo men recently arrested in Dixon are “persons of interest” in a string of recent break-ins in Polo, Police Chief Dennis Christen confirmed Tuesday.
Ryan C. Miller, 20, Dylan E. Green, 17, and Brian Arriola, 19, were arrested Saturday night in Dixon for allegedly breaking into up to 10 homes and as many vehicles that night, grabbing what they could and fleeing on foot.
They were being held Tuesday night in Lee County Jail on $100,000 bond each.
Christen said he is reviewing evidence with Dixon police, and has asked the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department to help with his investigation.
According to the chief, burglars broke in through the second-floor roof of Charley’s Pharmacy on Sept. 1 and took a large amount of prescription painkillers.
In addition, a home vacant about 2 weeks because of the death of the owner was broken into during the day on Sept. 23, he said.
The thieves cut the screen on a front window sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., and took several items, which Christen declined to identify.
Other break-ins also have occurred, he said.
“We believe several of these break-ins are connected,” Christen said. “Screens have been cut in several of them.”
Earlier in the summer, windows were broken at the Buffalo Township Hall and Olsen’s Elevator, across from each other, and on the same night.
“Those were criminal damage to property – they didn’t go inside,” Christen said.
