Courses slated to start in the next couple of weeks are:

Introduction to Knitting, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 1-22

The goal is to gain confidence and have fun learning to knit. During the four-week course, students will learn terms and techniques, and begin a simple project to work on in class. Knitting needles, yarn and patterns are provided for the first class. Cost is $35.

Wilton Method of Cake Decorating, 5:30-9:30 p.m. Oct. 1 and 8

With the correct technique and equipment, cakes can become works of art. This class will cover making frosting and roses, writing techniques, basic borders and figure piping.

Students must bring a frosted cake, hand mixer, bowls for frosting, a pound of powdered sugar, a cup of shortening, and vanilla or other flavoring. A supply kit is available from the instructor for $35. Cost for the class is $60.

Therapy Dog Training, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 1 through Nov. 5

This class will help prepare dog and owner to work as a team in a variety of environments. Therapy dogs visit nursing homes, group homes and schools, and there is a pressing need for owner-dog team visits in this area. Shot records are a must, and dogs should have a friendly disposition.

The class includes movies, site visits and presentations, and those who pass can take a certification test. The textbook is available for $40; cost for the class is $55.
