DIXON – Michael Lee Scheck, 51, of Dixon, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford. He was employed by Dixon State School for 10 years, and by Plews/Edelmann, Dixon, as a welder for 17 years, before retiring.

Michael was born Sept. 17, 1958, in Blair, Neb., the son of Vincent and Donna (Bottorff) Scheck. He married Rosa Rodriquez on May 2, 1987, in Dixon. Michael was a member of Harvest Time Bible Church, Rock Falls. He enjoyed building model cars, loved the outdoors, camping, and hiking.

Survivors include his wife, Rosa Scheck of Dixon; six sons, Jose Rodriquez of Kuwait, Ale Rubio of Dixon, Mike (Tess Torquido) Scheck of Portland, Ore., Philip (Jennifer Goodwin) Scheck of Mount Morris, and Robert “Bob” (Jaci Arbuckle) Scheck and Jesse Scheck, both of Dixon; one daughter, Christina (Jeff) Heilgeist of Dixon; his mother, Donna Scheck of Chicago; three brothers, James (Pam) Green of Coleta, Donald (Barb) Scheck of Sauget, and Ronald (JuJu) Scheck of Phoenix; two sisters, Sherri (Bill) French of Geneva and Tammy (Kenny) Jackson of Chicago; and six grandchildren, Sabrina Scanlan, Louie Heilgeist, Angel Heilgeist, Jose Rodriquez Jr., Ashlyn Rodriquez, and Briauna Gordon.

He was preceded in death by his father.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Harvest Time Bible Church, Rock Falls, with the Rev. Jason Borton, associate pastor, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., with the family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon.

A memorial has been established.
