Know Your Neighbors: Patrick Pinion, Minister
Patrick Pinion, 37, has been the minister at Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sterling, for 3 years.
He and his wife, Jeanette Pinion, 38, have two daughters, Alison, 7, and Marie, 3. Patrick is the son of W. Dan Pinion of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Gelina Nunn of DeKalb. He has a brother, Nathan Pinion, 35, of Des Moines, Iowa; a half brother, Jacob Pinion, 23, of Missouri; and a half sister, Rachel Keleher, 25, of Wisconsin.
On-the-job lesson: Always go that extra mile to spend time with your family.
Alma mater: I graduated in 1990 from North Kossuth High School, Swea City, Iowa. I got my bachelor’s degree at Northern Illinois University and my Master of Divinity from Concordia University, St. Louis.
Philosophy: You gotta have faith.
Hearts: Basketball, tennis, soccer, football, golf, reading, Star Wars and watching sports on TV.
Darts: Talking on the phone. I like to talk face to face.
Haunts: The tennis courts and parks with my family.
Hero: My father. He’s the wisest person I know, and a wonderful father.
First job: I was a gas station attendant in Swea City when I was 16. It was money.
First car: A Chevrolet Impala when I was 16.
