The amount of support from the community was amazing for Reagan Trail Days 2009, and Dixon Main Street was happy to help the Reagan Trail Commission organize such an amazing event.

A big thanks to the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home for the wine-tasting reception that was co-sponsored by Dixon Tourism. This was a first-time event and was an elegant way to launch this year’s festival.

Fantastic work by all the pontoon boat drivers for the traditional boat rides on the Rock River. This year, 249 riders enjoyed the scenic river – a record number.

Thanks to the Dixon Family YMCA, especially James Buss, for the family movie and to Big Horn Archery and Martin Archery. Thanks to the Dixon Historic Center, Loveland Community House, Dixon Public Library and the First Christian Church for keeping their doors open all day for Reagan enthusiasts. Thanks to Naperville Trolley, Jelly Belly, The Next Picture Show, Mama Cimino’s, Butcher Block Antique Shop and Judy Dixon.

The Alzheimer’s Association held their first-ever duck race, and the Rock River Valley Bicycle Club did a great job with their annual Heritage Bike Ride. Thanks to our event sponsors including First National Bank in Amboy, Clifton Gunderson and Raynor. Also, a big thanks to Culver’s for the great “Custard Social” on the riverfront and to all the horse riders in the annual horse parade.

Reagan Trail Days is a wonderful community tradition because of the volunteers who put in long hours to make it a special event. Thank you to the 2009 Reagan Trail Days committee: Bill and Carol Wadsworth, Brittany Rowe, Laura Bock, Diane Schnake, Ron Marlow, Toni Williar, B.J. Fenwick, Joni Ehnen, Mayor Jim Burke, R.J. Gabaldon, Wendell Snell, Sharon Thompson, Connie Lange, Duane Paulson, Dennis Turner, Greg Langdon, Duane and Shirley Bartelt and to past committee members who lent their support. Also a thank you to the Dixon Riverfront Commission for its efforts in blending the grand opening of the Heritage Crossing Riverfront into the activities.

Thank you to the Dixon Park District, Dixon Police and Fire Department and the city of Dixon for their support. Thanks to the local media outlets that helped to promote and cover the great events that were taking place: The Telegraph, WIXN, WLLT and WSDR.
