Nieman’s 39 boosts Newman past Prophets

Dan Nieman fired a 3-over-par 39 Tuesday to lead the Newman boys golf team to a 179-188 win against Prophetstown in a Three Rivers dual meet at Emerald Hill in Sterling.

Andrew Smith added a 44 for the Comets, a score matched by the Prophets’ Scott Matthews and Jarod Smith.

IVC 148, Rock Falls 183: Jared Johnson fired an even-par 36 to lead the Grey Ghosts at Arrowhead Country Club near Chillicothe.

Tanner Brown’s 43 was low for Rock Falls. Ben Hoffman added a 44.

Riverdale 165, Erie 183, Morrison 203: Kevin Miller carded a 40 to lead the Rams at Erie Country Club.

Alec Thruman led Erie with a 43. Landon Nelson shot 47 for Morrison.

Lena-Winslow 178, Warren 184, Eastland-Milledgeville 185: Zeke Hartman led E-M with a 43 at Lake Carroll.

Le-Win’s Seth Cory was medalist with a 39.

Girls

Stillman Valley 230, Bureau Valley 275, Rock Falls 287: Jessica Gerig’s 52 earned medalist honors for the Cardinals.

Geneseo 197, Rock Island 210, Prophetstown 222: Jasmine Anderson had a 50 to lead the Prophets at Geneseo Country Club.

The medalist was the Rocks’ Kelsey Kernin with a 9-over-par 45.
