John E. Albrecht Jr.

PROPHETSTOWN – John E. Albrecht Jr., 78, of 315 Dale Ave., Prophetstown, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at his home. He worked as a carpenter for 58 years.

Mr. Albrecht Jr. was born May 20, 1931, in Annawan, the son of John E. and Martha (Blackert) Albrecht Sr. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Patricia N. Emery on Feb. 4, 1951, in Prophetstown. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Prophetstown.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeff (Pam) Albrecht of Prophetstown; two sisters, Helen Waldbusser of Prophetstown and Mildred (Maurice) Miatke of Sterling; two brothers, Marvin (Beverly) Albrecht of Sterling and Wayne (Betty) Albrecht of DeKalb; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial service is at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church, Prophetstown, with the Rev. Greg Olson, pastor, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements were completed by Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, Prophetstown.

A memorial has been established.
