Shane Hussey, 19, works maintenance at the Franklin Creek State Natural Area and is taking general education classes at Sauk Valley Community College this summer before returning to the University of Wisconsin at Platteville, where he’s an animal science major.

Shane is the son of Paul and Ann Hussey of Franklin Grove, and has a sister, Kayla Hussey, 17.

On-the-job lesson: As you get older, you have to be more responsible.

Alma mater: I graduated in 2008 from Ashton-Franklin Center High School.

Oughta be a law: Leave gun owners alone.

Hearts: Hanging out with friends, “MASH 4077” and “NCIS.”  I also was on the Lee County livestock judging team for four years.

Darts: Driving in Chicago.

Hero: My great-grandfather, the late Maury Hussey, for his knowledge of how you’re supposed to live life. He lived through the Great Depression and World War II.

First car: A 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. I got it when I was 15 and started driving it when I was 16.

People say I look like: Adam Sandler.

Phobia: Heights.

Guilty pleasure: Anything sweet.

I’d like to meet: Morgan Freeman.

Best thing about Franklin Grove: It’s small, and easy to keep track of your friends.
