DIXON – Runners, walkers, and even a man pushing a stroller thundered down Hennepin Avenue Saturday under overcast skies.

This year 1,175 people participated in the 10th Annual Reagan Run, from Ronald Reagan’s boyhood home, through the streets and woods of Dixon, to Haymarket Square.

As they crossed the finish line, their names were announced to the cheering crowd. The rain held off until after the race to help cool off the participants after their 5K trip.

Lisa Framke, 46, and Nicki Scheidegger, 34, both of Dixon, bragged about their times to each other after the race. Framke finished in 28 minutes and 34 seconds. Scheidegger ran it 22 seconds faster.

This was Framke’s second time in the race. She said she paced herself so she could sprint toward the end of the race.

This was Scheidegger’s first time in the race. “I really didn’t have a plan, so I just ran.”

Scheidegger has lost 40 pounds in the last 8 months.

“I knew I could do it, now that I lost 40 pounds,” Scheidegger said. “I am very proud of myself.”
