Toddler drowns in rural Sterling

STERLING – A 3-year-old Rockton boy died Saturday afternoon after an apparent drowning in rural Sterling.

According to a release from the Whiteside County Sheriff’s office, an emergency crew responded a to the Indian Ridge subdivision at 4:20 p.m.

Responders took Kevin A. Garza to CGH Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

According to the sheriff’s office, Garza is the son if Nicholas Garza, 29, of Rockton, and Amanda Jenkins, 27, of Montello, Wis.

The incident remains under investigation.
