ROCK FALLS – Helen L. “Sal” Tarbill, 73, of Rock Falls, died Thursday, June 25, 2009, at her home. She and her husband owned and operated the Sterling Fish Market.

Mrs. Tarbill was born Feb. 19, 1936, in Jordan Township, the daughter of Leonard and Mable (Portner) Dean. She married Lester Tarbill on April 24, 1954, in Sterling. He preceded her in death in 1997.

Survivors include her mother, Mable Brackemyer of Rock Falls; an aunt; an uncle; several cousins  and in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her father.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls, with the Rev. Leo Patterson of St. John Lutheran Church, Sterling, officiating.

Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Heartland Hospice.
