STERLING – Anne R. Ortega, 84, of Sterling, died Thursday, June 25, 2009, at CGH Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Helena, Mont., the daughter of Frank and Librada (Zambrano) Martinez. She married Jesus “Jesse” Ortega on Nov. 13, 1950, in Sterling. Anne was a member of St. Mary Church, and an active member of the Wallace Park Neighborhood Watch. She enjoyed embroidery and working puzzles.

Surviving are her husband, Jesse; one daughter, Patricia Ortega of Farmington Hills, Mich.; one son, Richard Ortega of Sterling; and two sisters, Josephine (Eugene) Ewbank of Rockford and Frances (Vincent) Medina of Rockford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, and one nephew.

Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Church, Sterling, with the Rev. Donald Ahles, celebrant officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Sterling. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., with the rosary recited at 1 p.m., Sunday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave., Rock Falls.

Memorials in her memory to the National Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
