Brittany Sligar, 21, of Shannon, is the manager at the Sterling Cost Cutters in Northland Mall. She lives in Shannon with her fiancé, Jordan Walsh, 20, and is the daughter of Ron and Jill Sligar of Shannon. Brittany has a sister, Brianne Sligar, 16, and a brother, John Sligar, 11, both of Shannon.

On-the-job lesson: Patience and how to be outgoing.

Alma mater: I graduated in 2007 from Eastland High School, Lanark, and in 2008 from Regency Beauty Institute in Chicago.

Philosophy: Go big or go home.

Hearts: Acting and singing. I used to do plays in Chicago.

Darts: People who cut me off while I’m driving.

Haunts: With my fiancé at the movies.

Hero: My grandma, Marlene Scalzo, of Plainfield. She’s just a strong Italian woman.

First job: I worked at Rolling Hills, a factory in Lanark, doing assembly-line work. I was 16. I didn’t like it.

First car: A 1992 Toyota Camry. I was 18.

Read this: The entire “Twilight” series by Stephanie Meyer. It was well-written and really got my interest.

People say I look like: Mila Kunis, an actress from “That ’70s Show.”

Phobias: Tornadoes.

Guilty pleasure: Cherry Twizzlers.

I’d like to meet: Marilyn Monroe.

In the dictionary next to: Bubbly.

Trading spaces: I’d like to visit Palermo, Italy. It’s where my ancestors are from.

Best thing about Shannon: It’s very small and quiet, and when I settle down and have kids, they can run around and I don’t have to worry about them.
