Cara Vock, 19, of Dixon, is a sales associate at Shoe Sensation in Northland Mall, Sterling. She is the daughter of Edward Vock of Polo and Carla Babics of Dixon. Cara has two stepsisters, Laura Babics of Milwaukee and Dion Tres, 9, of Polo, and two stepbrothers, Adam Babics of Milwaukee and Carl Vock, 2, of Polo.

On-the-job lesson: To approach every person with an open attitude.

Alma mater: I graduated in 2008 from Newman Central Catholic High School. I’m attending Illinois State University and majoring in criminal justice, and taking summer classes at Sauk Valley Community College.

Philosophy: I try to laugh really hard so that I cry every day. I try to appreciate both aspects of life.

Oughta be a law: Increase the speed limit to 75 miles per hour on the interstate.

Hearts: Golf. Crochet sweaters in the wintertime.

Darts: Math homework. Studying for math tests.

Haunts: Around a bonfire.

First job: A pool attendant at the Brandywine Hotel and Suites in Dixon. I liked it. I folded towels, cleaned the pool and checked the chemicals. I was extremely tan.

First car: A 1996 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. 16.

Read this: “East of Eden” by John Steinbeck.

Phobias: Doctors.

Guilty pleasure: Sleeping in.

I’d like to meet: Chicago Cubs player Carlos Zambrano.

Trading spaces: I’d like to visit Africa and go on a safari.

Best thing about Dixon: When I go to a store, I almost always see someone I know.
